On January 23, 1900, the Prefect of Porrentruy asked the Bishop of Chartres for some Sisters of St. Paul  to teach the children and to care of the poor and the sick of the town of  Chevenez (Swiss Canton of Jura). The Prefect's request was granted. In September of that year,  four Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres arrived.

The Sisters of St. Paul  spread out rapidly in small communities throughout Canton. However after sometime, some communities were closed.

At present there are  four communities in Switzerland, one in Bienne and Boncourt and  two in Porrentruy.

There are 23 Sisters in the District of Switzerland living in these four communities, who are actively adapting their apostolic work to the people's needs in their areas.

"Spurred on by the love of Christ" (Book of Life Art.2), the Sisters continue to serve the people in the different ministries where they offer and share their skills and experiences to realize their mission of spreading the Good News of the Gospel.

They try to follow the example of their Patron, St. Paul, as they respond to the human and spiritual needs of the people around them,
