Renewal of Vows

The SPC community in Jerusalem was privileged  to renew their Vows of Consecration  last February 2, 2013, at the Divine Mercy Chapel in Tel-Aviv, Israel within the  English-Hebrew  Holy Mass officiated by Rev. Fr. David Neuhaus, a Hebrew Catholic Priest of the Society of Jesus, Vicar for  Migration and Assylum Seekers in the Holy Land.    In attendance during the celebration of the Holy Eucharist were more than 200 Overseas Filipino Workers and their Hebrew-Speaking children attending the catechism classes and who witnessed the renewal of vows of the religious for the first time.

Father David Neuhaus, S.J., is the present Chaplain of the Philippine Chaplaincy in the Holy Land under the Latin Patriarchate with whom the SPC Missionaries in Jerusalem are invited as Pastoral Workers for the  more than 30,000 Filipino Migrant Workers in Israel. 

The SPC Missionaries in the Holy Land based in Jerusalem  are doing Pastoral Ministry such as management and preparation  of the Eucharistic Liturgical celebrations,  giving seminars on the Sacraments, Bible Studies, Formation of Lay volunteers in the Church,  Adult catechism,  Flat visitations, counseling ,  pilgrimages to the Holy sites, and accompanying patients in the Hospital when needed.  The SPC Missionaries based in Bethlehem on the other hand are doing their apostolic work at Bethlehem University.  For the record this university was founded in the aftermath of Pope Paul VIís visit to the Holy Land in 1964, is supported by the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem and run by the De la Salle Brothers.  The University is open to all faiths. Celebration of the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul
The two SPC Communities  in the Holy Land (Bethlehem and Jerusalem) had a joint celebration of the Feast of the Conversion of  St. Paul last January  25, 2013, within the Holy Mass at the  Chapel of the Mar Andrea, residence of the SPC Sisters in Bethlehem .

Rev. Fr. Bill Russel, a priest of the Missionaries of Africa (otherwise known as the White Fathers) was the main celebrant.   Eight  De La Salle brothers from Bethlehem University, Brigittine Sisters,  Theresianas (3rd Order),  Franciscan  Sisters, and some  employees of Bethlehem University were present to celebrate with us.

The SPC sisters  invited the guests to  a sumptuous  dinner after the Holy Mass. 

Every year the two SPC communities take turn in hosting the  Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul.

SPC Pilgrimage to the Holy Land
The SPC Community in  Jerusalem welcomed our Thai SPC Pilgrims from Australia, led by Sr. Teresa Lao, last February 19, 2013.  The next batch of SPC Pilgrims in Jerusalem were Sr. Jennifer and Sr. Anielyn, (Filipino SPC missionaries to Hawaii).  The warm SPC fraternal get-together was filled with laughter and sharing of experiences.
